French Insurance Companies

Mary asks…

is it legal to have an english registered car insured with a french insurance company while living in france?

english cars french documentation;;;;; always a problem ;;whats legal

answers:

Yes, it is legal. EU rules dictate that you may drive a car from one member state into another, and keep it there for six months in a twelve-month period. It must then be re-registered in the new country, or exported/scrapped, etc.

Whether the French insurance company are willing to insure it, however, is up to them. If they won’t insure it on the plate, it may be worth asking them if they can insure it on the VIN plate.

George asks…

Is it true that no French insurance company will touch your claim if…?

…you have an accident in the chaos around Arc du Triomphe (where 12 boulevards and avenues are meeting up) ????

answers:

Yes it is true. Have you ever been there? It’s a nightmare

Sandra asks…

can you get covered by an EU insurance company e.g a french insurer for driving in britain?

Just asking because insurance prices for 17-25 year olds in briatin atm is just stupid. so any ideas?

answers:

Pretty sure that wouldn’t work but if you find anything out let me know because I agree it’s an absolute JOKE! And they wonder why so many of us drive without insurance. Idiots! I’m gonna see if I can insure my car in my mums name and put myself as a named driver this year. It’s illegal but I’ve got four years no claims on a 1.3L and they still want over a grand a year from a 21 year old girl. That should be illegal in my opinion lol x

Chris asks…

Pet Insurance for my French Bulldog puppy?

The first question is do I need to get pet insurance?

And can anyone recommend a good pet insurance company. My main concern is that French Bulldogs are prone to skin allergies and respiratory problems, and I would like to have an insurance that will cover most of the diagnostic and treatment costs. And also if they cover neutering and shots.

Thanks!

answers:

Do you need it? That’s up to you and how you feel about budgeting a few dollars now to prevent a huge outlay of cash later. Insurance can cost as little 20/mos and as much as 80/mos depending on what you want to be covered. The more bells and whistles included, the higher the cost.

The general rule of thumb is uif you are going to get insurance, to get coverage for illness and accidents. The routine exams and shots you can budget for…no big surprises there. However, if your dog swallows something or gets injured, surgery can cost several hundred to even thousands of dollars.

That said, I personally prefer having insurance and the peace of mind money will never be an issue when making medical decision for my english bulldog.

I did my research and ended up going with petshealthplan.com

there are other companies out there so be sure to check out the web.

Good luck.

James asks…

Do you know a good insurance agency in UK that would cover my cat when I move to France for a year?

Hey guys,

I’m gonna be living in Paris 4 a year and my cat will be living with me . Now i know that it would be smart to look up a French insurance company whilst i’m there but I’m afraid that once I get there they wouldn’t insure my cat or something given that I will move back to England the year after.

Do u know of a good insurance company that covers pet on an international scale ?

Thanks in advance
X

answers:

I think there are a few companies that many insure your cat while your in france, the best thing to do is compare your pet insurance and see if the policies insure you in france. Try www.theycompare.co.uk

David asks…

Where can I find travel insurance to cover me for a trip that doesn’t start and end in the UK!?!?

I’m studying temporarily in France but am planning a holiday to Germany for 2 weeks. I’ll be departing from and returning to France but all the travel insurance companies I’ve tried so far need me to be flying from and back to the UK.. And french companies need me to be a “permanent resident” of France… which I’m not!! What should I do?
It’s ok, I found one – http://www.worldnomads.com… but thanks everyone

answers:

Have you tried www.travelsupermarket.co.uk
They are usually quite accommodating of unusual situations

Robert asks…

Medical insurance for Schengen visa through French Consulate?

Has anyone recently applied for a schengen visa through the French consulate in New York City? I am having difficulty obtaining a letter with the specific wording that they need..this is from their website:

Health Insurance Certificate (+ 1 copy) : a letter from your Insurance company stating that you will be covered, for at least 37,000 $, during your trip in Europe for any medical expenses, hospitalization and repatriation will be required. (The letter must include, exact wording, these three conditions of coverage.)

Where did you get international medical insurance and was the consulate really strict with the letter they need?

answers:

Are you currently in the US? Are you an intern or an employee for a US company?

I am asking these questions, because there might be a less complicated way to go about getting insurance

Lizzie asks…

Why aren’t companies giving insurance information in languages other than English?

Products sold in the United States have instruction manuals in English, Spanish, and French. Many services offer bilingual customer service and/or interpreters. So why am I finding it hard to find any insurance declaration pages or terms and conditions in languages other than English?

It can’t be that there aren’t enough customers to merit another language – Spanish is the second most spoken language in the USA.

answers:

Same reason street signs are printed in English, school text books are printed in English, apartment leases are printed in English, investment prospectuses are printed in English.

Insurance is a financial product. English is the language used to transact business in the US. The over whelming majority of insurance customers speak English. Those that speak Spanish usually speak English as well.

Susan asks…

If Obama gave away a sweetheart deal to PhRMA in order to take on the insurance companies, is that acceptable?

Obama made a deal with big PhRMA and it is a very poor deal for the American people but if he did it because he knew that if he took on both big PhRMA and the insurance companies he would fail.

If this is the case and I do not know if it is, is it worth it? I mean it is the reality of our corrupt, for sale political system! If this is the case I believe that it is genius because he is using the old divide and conquer method. Look we have to give Obama some credit he has been deliberate and has had a plan for everything that he does. Louis XIV had a problem when he went into power and that was that the French aristocracy had all the power. So what he did was to pin them against each other by granting certain ones certain advantages and not the others. He was successful and was able to strip them of their power.

I have been advocating this policy’s of divide and conquer. DO YOU? Do you approve? Later can we take on PhRMA? Can you wait for that? Is this a good strategy?

answers:

No. Seriously, the deal is on the same level as the one Cheney made with the oil companies not to mention the lying involved. The real news network did a piece on this comparing the rhetoric during the campaign with what he actually did that lays bare the blatant lies.

Your assessment is not realistic. Obama lied and sold out.
