Ways to check is a business has insurance?
Exactly what the title says, is it possible to check online, or anywhere else, if a business has any kind of insurance? I can’t ask them at the moment, because of a legal issue, however, I would like to know if they have any kind of insurance. The business is in Illinois too, if that makes any difference.

answers:
No. Insurance carriers and all other insurance information is not public.

Charles asks…
how much aproximately does it cost for liability insurance to run home piano teaching business.?
I read you can add something called an endorsement to your home owners insurance policy to cover extra liability of running a home bases business. I plan on teaching approx. 15 students and am in California, anyone have any idea how much the Business extra insurance would cost?

answers:
Not all companies will do that, and the price varies by state. My mother is a piano teacher, and Erie Insurance charges her $150 a year, on an endorsement to the homeowners policy.
But I don’t believe Erie writes in California.

Sharon asks…
What type of business insurance do I need?
I plan on renting space to masseuses to provide chair massages to clients. What types of insurance do I need as the renter and owner of the property?

answers:
IF the only thing you’re renting is the space, you need “owner, landlord & tenant” style general liability. If you’re ALSO renting the chair to them, you’ll need a rental equipment liability type policy, and you might want to insure the chair, also.
A local agent can get you set up with the proper coverage type.

John asks…
why are small to medium size insurance business thriving in the USA but has been killed of in the UK?
Hi
It would appear that insurance business in the USA are still managing to get business whilst in this country UK it s practically impossible to make a meaningful living? The competition, those selling really cheap though not appropriate insurance to the public, is rife here. I would have thought it would be the same in the states but sme’s still make a living.

answers:
Different countries have different laws governing businesses that affect whether they make it or not. The UK may have s law that makes it hard to make profit and that law may not exist in the US
